Shwmae, Alright My name is Kevin Hargest, I’m originally from mid-Wales, husband to fellow artist Mayuri and father to two little creatives, in so many many ways.

I come from a family of artists, with my mother being a painter and photographer. So, in some ways I followed in the family business, however my formal art education ended at A-Level, but I continued to produce artwork or literature throughout my 20’s & 30’s.

I create art for numerous reasons: to tell stories in a different way, to help process emotions, for fun and for commercial reasons. Occasionally all of these at once.

I almost exclusively work in acrylics expressing myself in abstract, conceptual and landscape artwork. I would acknowledge a influence of impressionism in my work.

Since moving to Birmingham 3 years ago I have become part of UASB, had two pieces long listed in VAA competitions in 2024 & 2025, joined several of the UASB artists in having a piece on display in central Birmingham last year and taken part in Birmingham Open Studios over the last 3 years.

Along with my wife, we have been regular vendors at the King’s Heath Arts Market.

Art however is not my day job, I am a counsellor, Supervisor and Personal & business coach, all of which have a certain level of art practise woven in. While as part of Hargest Creative we look to offer creative well-being services, from a consultancy level through to workshops.
