Hi I’m Martine, known as Tiggy to many of my friends and family.
I am a mixed media, abstract, landscape artist. I am predominantly process led and enjoy the contrast between what I choose to control and what the materials decide to do. I love spending time outside in the landscape soaking up the energy, sounds, sights and feelings then letting them back out onto a substrate. I went to uni as a mature student after having a spell of being a contemporary dancer having trained in ballet and contemporary dance for 17 years. I studied Textiles at uni which led to me becoming an Art teacher for over 20 years in a secondary school. 3 years ago decided I’d had enough and wanted to put into practice what I’d preached. I moved from Birmingham to rural Wales last summer where I’m immersed in surroundings which inspire me to create but still keep close ties to my art fam.
