Kat Bennett
Kat Bennett is a visual artist who uses mixed media elements, including photography, digital imaging, spray and acrylic painting, freehand drawing, hand-cut stencilling, and creative writing to produce paintings and unique hand-finished prints. Through experimentation, Kat developed a sweeping colour mix technique that moves through all the collections.
Kats’ chosen themes transition through vibrant abstracts into themes that travel from surreal outer space to the inner mind and back down to earth for abstract countryside landscapes of flowers in her Flower Boom collection, visions of rain inspired by her love of the English weather, and creative cats.
The ongoing Catography project takes Kats’ traditional cat photography and adds a touch of colourful digital imaging. The prints are then hand-finished with outlining, sketching, and painting directly onto the prints to uniquely create trippy kitty artworks. Moving the idea on further, the most recent addition to the catography range is a collection of canvas paintings using the sweeping abstract style, hand-cut stencilling, and outlines to depict versions of the original cat photography
