I’m Jasmin, a compulsive creative from Solihull. I studied art at A-level but then left it all behind for the majority of my adult life.

After working in the NHS for over a decade, the urge to create took over and I left to run my own  business making headdresses for the alternative fashion industry. It is only now that I am diving back into the world of creating in paint…and owning my love of colour!

Inspired by the patterns and colour of folk art, mid century aesthetics and the constant draw of the natural world, my paintings lean towards a naive and illustrative style. They are a tool to understanding some of the inner thoughts and feelings I struggle to process.

I will commonly get lost in an idea for months (beetles, or Frida for example) only to walk away and never visit it again once I’m satisfied. While the bright colours and flat blocks of paint remain, my subjects and approach can vary wildly. I don’t worry about my lack of consistency any more though, and have no interest in pinning down a single area to focus on. I’m here to make art that makes me smile and to satisfy that all consuming urge to capture an idea before it gets lost and I inevitably move on.
