Kings Heath Art Market joins forces with the community centre
This November, United Artists of South Birmingham (UASB) are bringing the much-loved Kings Heath Art Market to a new home - Kings Heath Community Centre on Heathfield Road.
The event, taking place on Saturday 15 November from 12–4pm, marks more than just another brilliant day of local art. It’s part of the launch celebrations for the community buyout — a major community buyout** - a major effort to secure the centre’s future as a community-owned space for everyone.
The Community Centre, which is currently transferring from council to community ownership, has launched a £150,000 Community Share Offer to fund the takeover, cover initial running costs, and make essential improvements to the building — from accessible toilets and better lighting, to new equipment and energy-efficient updates.
“It’s a chance to show what the space can become,” says UASB’s Graham Langley. “Imagine the walls freshly painted white and filled with large-scale works, installations and 3D pieces - a place where artists, residents and local groups can come together and create something big.”
The November Art Market will see over 40 stalls showcasing the incredible creativity of Kings Heath and beyond. Expect original art, prints, ceramics, textiles, and more - plus the chance to explore the newly energised Community Centre in action.
This is a brilliant opportunity to see what’s possible when artists and the community come together to reimagine one of Kings Heath’s most important spaces.
