Hi I'm Katherine,

Thank you for inviting me to do this artist feature, here's a bit about me!

I used to work as an occupational therapist around the West midlands but gave up mainly due to health reasons (MS) so now I have time to do more painting and music (play clarinet). I had an MS symptom years ago when my right hand went numb and I couldn't use it, thankfully it got better after a month and wasn't permanent. So life can be unpredictable and it's good to create !

My main subject has been still life acrylic painting,  I started painting objects around my home and garden during lockdown and had some featured in the purple gallery in the 'Local and Familiar' theme in 2022.   I've also started doing the Kings Heath art market and enjoy being a part of that.

I like using acrylic paints as when I paint I paint quickly, they dry fast and they're bold and colourful which is the style I like. I paint when I'm focused and get in the flow but there can be a long stretch between these times and then I just do the odd small pen drawing and watercolour.
